What is Marathon Couples Therapy (also known at intensives or retreats)
This is a private couples intensive (not a retreat or a group experience). Just you, your partner and the therapist.
Meet with your therapist in a free consultation. This is an incredible opportunity for you and your partner. Couples report that just hearing each other describe what they hope for in an intensive brings much needed clarity. That clarity is the first thing a relationship needs for safety and connection.
If you, your partner and your therapist all decide: “Yes! A couples intensive is the way to go!” you’ll make plans for the intensive during the consultation. Your therapist will walk you through all the nitty gritty details of paperwork and logistics.
Show up - although that sounds obvious, we recognize the vulnerability in it. Come to the intensive with honesty. We want to know exactly where you are. Bring all your thoughts and feelings. Together, we’ll organize it, make sense of it, slow it down and create opportunities for you to connect.
What is Marathon Couples Therapy?
Marathon couples therapy is a focused therapeutic intervention that spans over a two or three-day period.
This approach includes:
A comprehensive Assessment of the relationship
Several hours of evidence-based treatment
A concentrated focus on the goals that are most important to both partners
What Are the advantages of Marathon Couples Therapy Compared to Weekly Sessions?
The uninterrupted focus on assessment and treatment allows partners to achieve breakthroughs and make expedited progress on their most pressing concerns.
Marathon couples therapy offers the equivalent of 3 to 6 months of traditional therapy in just one weekend.
Before the first session:
Once a marathon session is booked, the process starts immediately with a confidential online questionnaire online questionaries completed by each partner. This assessment provides valuable insight into the dynamic of the relationship highlighting strengths, areas of concern, and each partners hopes for counseling.
